Empirical Test of Hacking Framework: An Exploratory Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
This exploratory study is an empirical test of a model based on a hacking framework. Variables were measured using nonreactive, secondary data obtained from sixty months of official statistical data, instead of relying on self-reports and surveys. Using stepwise regression, we found support for several of the model predictions. Reconnaissance was positively related to the vulnerability represented by increased Broadband access. Reconnaissance seems to lead to Malicious Code. There was support for escalation of privilege, as Root Compromise was related to User Compromise. There was also support for the idea that hacker frustration at failing to gain control of a resource may lead to Denial of Service attacks (DoS was negatively related to Root Compromise). Environmental variables (Broadband and Number of hosts) are positively related to each other. The study has potentially significant implications for research and practice.

Empirical Test of a Hacking Model: An Exploratory Study
This exploratory study is an empirical test of a model of the activities involved in hacking attacks, and the conditions associated with the increase in these activities. In a methodological innovation, the variables in the model were measured using non-reactive, secondary data obtained from sixty months of official statistical data, from 1999 through 2003. These variables were analyzed using s...
متن کاملEstablishing an Argument-Based Validity Approach for a Low-Stake Test of Collocational Behavior
Most of the validation studies conducted across varying test application contexts are usually framed within the traditional conceptualization of validity and therefore lack a comprehensive framework to focus on test score interpretations and test score use. This study aimed at developing and validating a collocational behavior test (CBT), drawing on Kane's argument-based approach to validity. F...

This paper is to develop a knowledge management (KM) model in some Iranian academic research centers (ARC) based on KM critical success factors. General KM critical success factors (CSF) were identified through literature review. Then the research procedure led to the identification of KM critical success factors in Iranian ARCs including 16 different factors. It was done through first stage su...

This work is approached through the lens of compliant security by drawing on the concepts of neutralization theory, a prominent postulation in the criminology domain and the ‘big five’ personality construct. This research is conducted based on a case study of ISO/IEC27001 Standard certified banks, to empirically evaluate the link between cybersecurity protocols violation and how employees ratio...
متن کاملA Developed Model for Purchase Intention of Foreign Food Products: An Empirical Study in the Iranian Context
The aim of this study is to develop a conceptual model for purchase intention of foreign food products in the Iranian context. Based on an in-depth review of past literature, the sub-factors related to customer’s purchase intention were extracted. Then, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were applied to identify and confirm the factors affecting purchase intention of f...
